Introducing Carolyn Eileen!

Preparing to leave for the hospital.  We went in Sunday evening to start the induction but went to one last leisurely brunch and church service without baby in tow.

After quite a long labor that only resulted in me dilating 2cm the doctor recommended that we do a c-section so about 7:45 Monday evening (about 24 hours since we first started the induction process) we headed into the operating room and at 8:52 Carolyn Eileen was born.  She was very vocal in letting us know that she was ok, which made us ecstatic.  Mommy was very eager to see and hold her but it took a little while to get me finished up so I had to wait for daddy to bring her over for me to look at.
Daddy holding Carolyn for the first time.
Finally out of recovery and able to hold Carolyn.
 Getting her footprints.
Realizing her first bath wasn't that bad.
 Proud papa!
 Tired girl!

Very tired but very happy mom!
 Sleeping beauty!
With nurse Camille who helped navigate mommy and daddy through all of the challenges of the day!
 Exercising my lungs!
Getting ready to go home.  I wasn't very happy about my first car experience and cried most of the way home.
After navigating the treacherous roads, we had our next roadblock- getting to the house while walking on a sheet of ice.
Daddy doing his best to clear the walkways.  The whole city of Indianapolis was sold out of salt, so until Grandpa Smith could bring some down from Ft. Wayne he had to bring buckets of hot water to pour on the ice and then break the ice up with a shovel.  Luckily on Saturday he had help from Auntie Erica.

 Resting in my new digs!

 Cuddling with Nana Smith
Hanging out with Auntie Erica who was a huge help to my parents their first weekend home!
Lots of people keep saying that I look a lot like mommy!  Here is a picture of her from when she was born.

Tonight we are going to celebrate my first week of life by taking my first bath!  More pictures to come later!
